Syrian intelligence says it foiled terror plots targeting the Baniyas and Homs refineries
A source in Syria's General Intelligence Directorate announced on 1 November that terror plots targeting first the Baniyas and then the Homs oil refinery had been foiled.

A source in Syria's General Intelligence Directorate said on 1 November that a terror plot targeting the country's Baniyas oil refinery had been foiled.
About an hour later, the same source announced that another terror plot, targeting the Homs oil refinery, had also been foiled. The statements gave no information on who had prepared the plots or whether anyone had been detained.
The Baniyas and Homs refineries are Syria's two main oil refineries. The Baniyas refinery is located on the country's Mediterranean coast in Tartus province, and the Homs refinery in the city of Homs in central Syria.
Syrian authorities have repeatedly announced this year that terror plots were foiled in various parts of the country; in March, the Interior Ministry said it had foiled a plot by the ISIS terrorist organisation targeting Damascus.
