Russian Defence Ministry: dry cargo ship carrying cargo for Ukrainian army struck near Odesa
The Russian Defence Ministry said a dry cargo ship carrying cargo for the Ukrainian army was struck by a drone in the Black Sea, about 16 kilometres southeast of Odesa.

The Russian Defence Ministry said on 1 November that the Russian Armed Forces struck a dry cargo ship carrying cargo for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Black Sea, about 16 kilometres southeast of Odesa.
According to the ministry, the strike was carried out with an unmanned aerial vehicle during the daytime that day. The ministry said the ship was hit while under way.
The Russian Defence Ministry presented the strike as a continuation of drone strikes on vessels it says carry military cargo. Earlier the same day, the ministry had announced that another dry cargo ship was struck in a similar way southwest of Odesa.
On 25 October, the Russian Defence Ministry had also said it struck a dry cargo ship carrying cargo for the Ukrainian army. On 18 July 2026, one person was killed on a merchant vessel that came under Russian attack near the coast of Odesa.
The ports of Odesa region are Ukraine's main maritime gateway for foreign trade, including grain exports. Since the war began in February 2022, these ports and ships heading to them have repeatedly come under attack.
