Saudi strikes: Hodeidah University medical faculty targeted, child killed in Taiz

On 1 November, Saudi Arabian military aircraft carried out strikes in Yemen's western province of Hodeidah and south-western province of Taiz.

Local authorities in Hodeidah said Saudi aircraft targeted the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of Hodeidah University in western Yemen. The local authorities' statement gave no information on casualties.

The Ministry of Health of the Sanaa government announced that a child was killed and two girls were wounded in Saudi air strikes on the al-Unayn area of Jabal Habashi district in Taiz province.

Earlier the same morning, Saudi fighter jets struck a Yemen Oil Company station in Bajil district of Hodeidah province with two air strikes, wounding three civilians. The Saudi side, for its part, said that during the day a ballistic missile was launched from Yemen towards the country's southern region and that its air defences intercepted and destroyed it.

Hodeidah is a port city on the Red Sea coast and one of Yemen's main ports. Taiz is one of Yemen's largest cities; the governor of Taiz said today that only 20 percent of the city's hospitals are functioning and that hundreds of medical facilities have stopped providing services.
