Truck crashes into barrier on Alat–Astara highway in Salyan, two killed
A GAZelle truck that lost control crashed into a roadside barrier in Azerbaijan's Salyan district this morning, killing two people.
A serious road accident occurred in Azerbaijan's Salyan district on the morning of 1 November, killing two people.
The accident took place on the section of the Alat–Astara highway that passes through Salyan district. A GAZelle truck lost control and crashed into a barrier at the side of the road.
The identities of those killed have been established. They are residents of the village of Mughanganjali in Salyan district – Alakbar Hasanov, born in 1970, and his fellow villager Fariz Garayev, born in 1973.
An investigation into the incident is under way.
The Alat–Astara highway links the Baku direction with Azerbaijan's southern regions and Astara on the border with Iran, and forms part of the section of the North–South International Transport Corridor that runs through Azerbaijan. Fatal road accidents have been recorded on the Salyan section of the highway before.
