Saudi strikes on Bani Hushaish: death toll rises to 32, with 38 wounded

The health minister of the Sanaa government, Ali Shaiban, said on Saturday evening that Saudi airstrikes on the Bani Hushaish district east of the Yemeni capital Sanaa killed 32 people and wounded 38.

According to the minister, the toll is not final. In a later statement, Shaiban said that a total of 70 civilians were killed and wounded in the massacre committed by Saudi aircraft in the village of Al-Sharia in Bani Hushaish district.

The first report on the strikes came on Saturday morning, when 10 people were reported killed, five houses were said to have been destroyed by the airstrikes, and the recovery of the dead from under the rubble was continuing. In the afternoon, the Yemeni Ministry of Health announced that the death toll had risen to 25 and the number of wounded to 30.

Yemen's General People's Congress party condemned the Saudi aircraft's targeting of citizens' homes in Bani Hushaish district. The party's statement said: “Targeting homes inhabited by residents is a war crime in every sense.”

The Association of Yemen's Scholars also issued a statement condemning Arab and Islamic silence in the face of Saudi massacres against the Yemeni people.

Earlier, the spokesman of the Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said Saudi military aircraft had carried out 105 air and missile strikes in the past 24 hours on civilian targets in the capital Sanaa and in the provinces of Al-Jawf, Taiz, Amran, Hajjah, Saada, Marib and Lahj. According to him, the total number of Saudi air and missile strikes on Yemen since the start of the escalation has reached 4,369.

Bani Hushaish is a district of Sanaa governorate located east of the capital Sanaa. On the same day, the Yemeni Armed Forces announced that they had carried out missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabian territory, including in the direction of Najran and Jizan.
