Yemeni Armed Forces: Abha airport and Khamis Mushait air base targeted

Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced on November 3 that two military operations had been carried out on Saudi territory. According to him, Abha International Airport was targeted with a drone and the Khamis Mushait air base with a ballistic missile.

Yahya Saree said in a statement: "The Yemeni Armed Forces carried out two military operations. The first operation targeted Abha International Airport with a drone; the hit was accurate and caused air traffic at the airport to be halted. The other operation targeted the Khamis Mushait air base with a ballistic missile, and the hit was direct."

Earlier the same day, Saree announced that the Yemeni Armed Forces had struck with several ballistic missiles concentrations of forces subordinate to Saudi officer Badr al-Harbi in the Ras al-Ara and Al-Mudaraba areas. According to him, the strikes left dozens killed and wounded, including commanders.

The spokesman also said that concentrations of forces subordinate to Saudi officer Faris al-Shammari east of Al-Jawf province were targeted with ballistic missiles. According to him, the hits were direct, there were a large number of dead and wounded, and a number of military vehicles were destroyed and burned.

Abha is the administrative centre of Asir province in south-western Saudi Arabia. The city of Khamis Mushait is located in the same province and hosts King Khalid Air Base. Both sites were repeatedly attacked by the Yemeni side in previous years as well.

The military confrontation between Yemen and Saudi Arabia has intensified in recent weeks. On October 7, the Yemeni Armed Forces also announced attacks on Saudi airports and a military base. On November 2, the Sanaa government said that 76 civilians had been killed and wounded by Saudi strikes over the previous 24 hours.
