Explosions occurred in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv overnight into November 7, at around 01:00 local time. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said Russia was striking infrastructure facilities in the city.
A few minutes later, repeated explosions were heard in the capital. No detailed information on the consequences of the attack has been released so far.
At about the same time, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said there was information that a drone had hit the roof of a nine-storey residential building in the city's Kyivskyi district.
The attack comes amid continuing mutual strikes between Russia and Ukraine on energy infrastructure. On November 6, the Russian Defence Ministry said strikes had been carried out overnight on Ukraine's energy facilities and vessels. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the same day that operations targeting Russia's oil refining sector were continuing in response to attacks on Ukraine's energy facilities.
On November 6, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine and the United States in Abu Dhabi would take place on November 10.
