The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said it had received a report of an incident 72 nautical miles east of the Saudi town of Ras al-Khafji. According to the centre, a tanker travelling southeast through the Persian Gulf was struck by two unknown projectiles.

According to the UKMTO warning, the incident took place on 1 November 2026 at 23:47 UTC (03:47 on 2 November, Baku time). The projectiles hit the tanker's port side. The report came from the vessel's master.

The centre said all crew members are accounted for and that there is no reported environmental impact at this time. The tanker's name and flag, and who fired the projectiles, have not been disclosed.

UKMTO advised vessels transiting the area to proceed with caution and to report any suspicious activity to the centre. It said the authorities are investigating the incident.

Ras al-Khafji is a coastal town in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, near the border with Kuwait. UKMTO is a body operating under the British Royal Navy that monitors the security of shipping in the region.

Several incidents involving ships have been recorded in the Persian Gulf in recent days. On 1 November, Qatar's Nakilat company said one of its vessels had been attacked by unidentified objects in the Persian Gulf.
