Mohsen Rezaei and Vladimir Putin hold phone call, stress continued strategic cooperation

Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei held a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on 2 November.

The two sides discussed regional and international developments, particularly the latest situation in West Asia. Both sides stressed the importance of continuing strategic cooperation between Tehran and Moscow in line with the roadmap agreed upon by the two countries.

Mohsen Rezaei thanked Vladimir Putin and other Russian officials for their statements praising the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Iran's other national figures. He also commended Russia's support for the resilience of the Iranian people.

Vladimir Putin was the first foreign leader to congratulate Mojtaba Khamenei on becoming Iran's Leader.

Iran and Russia signed a 20-year comprehensive strategic partnership treaty in Moscow on 17 January 2025. Last month, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a joint press conference in Tehran, where they affirmed their commitment to continued cooperation on regional issues.
